Movies 14: The Second Landmark Theater In Downtown Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

It was a decade ago that downtown Wilkes-Barre began its renaissance with the construction of the $31 million Movies 14 cinemaplex. An awesome addition to the city, the state of the art theater features 3-D viewing and D-Box as well as:

* Huge wall to wall curved screens
* Stadium seating with high back rocking chairs
* HPS4000 sound system with DOLBY digital
* VIP Viewing Room
* Online ticketing
* Game room and Party rooms
* Free 3 hour parking
* Daily matinees
* 3D digital projection on select films

In all, the theater looks good, is clean with no sticky feel as you walk through the aisles. The seats are comfortable and the AC keeps things cool. The sound system is everything you’d expect and want from a large theater…. So loud, in fact, that sometimes it shakes the floor (keep that in mind if you’re one who doesn’t care for loud noises because it can be a bit annoying at times).

The snacks and drinks are similar to the prices you see at other theaters and overall it’s a great movie going experience. It’s conveniently connected to one parking garage and there’s another across the street that they validate for.
