[Gallery] Mardi Gras 2006 – 150th Anniversary

For the great city of New Orleans Mardi Gras 2006 signified 2 very important milestones…. One of which will never be forgotten…. On the plus side, it represented the 150th anniversary of Carnival in that great city. On the other side, however, it represented the first since Hurricane Katrina devastated the city several months prior in August of 2005.

Having been to Mardi Gras in 2005 mere months before the calamity took place we were able to witness this unique city at its zenith. We’re grateful to be among those who had a last look at Fat Tuesday before things would change forever….

We all know the rest of the story.

Returning to New Orleans was a bittersweet experience. Naturally, we were elated to see the city that fueled the ignition of Partyclique but simultaneously were shocked at the level of destruction that had been suffered.

The feeling among us was that of gratitude to be a part of such a wonderful tradition for a second time around as well as being able to contribute to the cities much needed economical uprise. But also that of sorrow at the notion that for some, Mardi Gras 2006 was no celebration….

Whatever one’s own feelings one thing remains certain…. Nothing cancels Mardi Gras in New Orleans…. Nothing….
