Wilkes-Barre, Pa. at Night:
For the uninitiated, the acronym NEPA stands for northeast Pennsylvania.
Northeast Pa., like every region, has a nightlife and party culture all its own. While the temperature outside cools between September and March, things heat up inside the bars, clubs and venues that can be found all over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton metro region.

Although the Susquehanna Ale House located in the first block of S. Main Street in downtown Wilkes-Barre has changed faces many times over the years, it has not changed it’s profile. It still targets the young 20 something crowd.

The Oyster Bar & Restaurant located inside the Genetti Best Western Hotel is the personification of fine wining and dining in northeast Pa..

Katana Japanese restaurant and sushi bar in the Midtown Village has been serving fine ethnic cuisine here for more than 20 years.

Scenes like this are common on the the weekends as crowds of college students head toward center city and its plethora of trendy nightspots. And another anecdote of note, as this is written, that pinkish building on the corner was demolished just a few weeks ago.

Another “used to be” is Gonda’s restaurant as shown in 2011 which has since closed for business…. In it’s place now is another Italian eatery called Avanti’s.
